Annual Meeting and Log Inoculation Demo

Paul Bunyan Mushroom Club had our annual meeting on May 22 outdoors at the Helga Town Hall. We had a beautiful day for the meeting with great turn out of members excited for a new year of learning about mushrooms!
The meeting began with an inoculation event. Doug Gilbertson Michael Blassey talked about the process and guided members as they prepared their own logs to take home. Thank you to Doug for providing the logs and Michael for this fun event.

Outgoing President Gene Kremer led the meeting and reviewed the upcoming forays for this year.
Offices up for re-election were president and secretary. Steph Anderson will continue to act as secretary and Gene Kremer chose not to run for president. Paula Peters agreed to be interim president for a year as we work to find a new one. Many thanks to Gene Kremer for the work he put in as president and the many miles he put on attending forays, setting up meetings and finding interesting programs.
I look forward to seeing many of you this summer and enjoy being back in the woods again! Please check this website for upcoming foray details and membership information.

September 26, 2020 LaSalle Rec Area Foray & Annual Meeting

Janet Springer with Laetiporus
We dodged the rain once again and had a pretty well attended foray (for these covid times) followed by our annual meeting. Paula Peters is back on the board as Vice-President and Mary Mitchell will continue as Treasurer/Membership. Next Spring we will elect President and Secretary. Michael Blassey will head up the Events committee with some help. Steph was out of town so Paula took notes which will be published here soon.

August 22, 2020     Scenic State Park

74 degrees and muggy! But it didn’t rain while we were out. 10 club members braved the mosquito laden trails to be rewarded with baskets full of chanterelles Cantharellus flavos, lobster Hypomyces lactifluorum and hedgehogs Hydnum rapandum mushrooms. Many smiles were seen at the social distanced ID table. Michael’s super star mushroom of the day was a Lactarius indigo. Albeit, he was the only one to see it.
